| 内容記述 | In modern Japanese, the meaning and function of causation are primarily conveyed through the use of seru or saseru. However, there are verbs that convey the meaning of causing others to act even without the appearance of seru and saseru. For example, verbs such as sosonokasu (to ersuade), odateru (to flatter), and keshikakeru (to incite) can be regarded as expressing the meaning of causing others to act. In other words, since these verbs contain the meaning of making others act, they can be considered as expressions of causation. This paper aims to clarify how verbs that make others act in Japanese are syntactically distributed and what constraints are imposed on their meaning and usage. | |||||||
