Since then, the trend of Japanese education continues to emphasize problemsolving ability. PISA (Programme for International Student Assessment) positions problem solving ability as academic ability,too. In recent years, the global trend of curriculum reform is intellectual education from early childhood. In early childhood education in Japan, there is growing interest in the competency-based approach. The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology defined the key competence as a key competency among the competencies.
