| 内容記述 | This paper studies 3 major shifts in the calendar timing of season words in haiku poetry: the fallback shift that occurred when the Japanese government adopted the solar Gregorian calendar, the spring-forward effect when local authorities delay community events and activities, and the combined spring-forward shifts and fallback shifts on flora and weather caused by global warming. All 3 shifts of approximately one-month in duration were manmade. Seasonal change is already on the horizon. While the full impact of global warming is still to be experienced, this paper suggests that haikuists changed the way they compose and understand haiku each time seasons have shifted by 4 weeks or more. |
