| 内容記述 | This study examines the phenomenon of de-categorialization of the “yi + classifier” construction in Modern Chinese from both semantic and syntactic perspectives. It aims to clarify the conditions under which this construction can be omitted and when it must be retained. Through a systematic categorization of usage examples, the study identifies specific syntactic contexts where omission is permissible, such as when the construction serves as an attributive odifier or is repeated within the same sentence. Conversely, it highlights contexts where omission is prohibited, articularly when the construction functions as an adverbial modifier, appears in separable verb structures (liheci), or o-occurs with demonstratives or interrogatives. Additionally, the study examines cases where omission may lead to emantic ambiguity or a loss of nuance. By proposing a new theoretical framework, this research contributes to a eeper understanding of the syntactic and semantic roles of the “yi + classifier” construction in Chinese grammar. It lso provides implications for Chinese language pedagogy and cross-linguistic studies. |
