Based on the Granger causality test, the paper finds that inbound tourism to Japan does Granger cause Japanese exports of alcoholic beverages, and vice versa. The empirical results showed that a 1% increase in inbound tourism from China, the United States, and Korea increases shochu exports to these countries by 0.83%, 0.42%,and 1.02%, respectively.
