The major causes of this population outflow are the small number of large companies and low wages in the prefecture. Although the overall economy is not so good, some new developments of the agricultural sector and financial sectors have been observed. However, the prefecture needs to strengthen its role in “Car Island Kyushu” to attract automo bile manufacturers (including electronic parts manufacturers) to Kagoshima.
