In particular, old shopping districts have deteriorated significantly.\nDespite these conditions in much of Japan, the city centers in Takamatsu and Nagahama have been revitalized. Takamatsu’s Marugamemachi Shopping Street Association has redeveloped the shopping district making use of a fixed-term land lease. In Nagahama City, the traditional shopping district was revitalized by making use of an old bank building. The Kurokabe Corporation established a glassware business as a third sector company with private sector capital.
